Fixed assets
Fixed assets keeps the equipment, furniture, vehicles, computers and fit-out your business owns and uses for years. For each asset you see its cost, the depreciation booked month by month, what it is worth in the books now, where it is and what happened to it. Each month's depreciation is posted to Books in one journal per branch.
The owner, a manager or your accountant registers assets and runs depreciation; anyone with the view right can look things up or count assets with a phone camera. Fixed assets needs Books switched on, and can take an asset straight from a Books bill line.
Start with Set up fixed assets.
- Set up fixed assetsSwitch fixed assets on after Books, choose whether depreciation runs by itself each month, set the alert days and adjust the asset categories.
- Register an assetAdd an asset that is already in your books, one you paid for now, or one from a Books bill line, then print its tag label.
- Run monthly depreciationPreview a month's depreciation, run it once to post one Books journal per branch, finish a stopped run and export the asset register.
- Sell, dispose, move or revalue an assetSell or scrap an asset with the gain or loss and VAT, move it to another branch, or book a revaluation or an impairment.
- Count assets by scanning their tagsOpen an asset count for a branch or place, scan the tag labels with a phone camera or scanner, and close the count with what was found and missing.
