Run monthly depreciation
Each month that has ended is depreciated once: Kluvan posts one journal per branch in Books, with a line for each category. After your first run, the following months can run by themselves.
Before you start
- You need the right Manage fixed assets and run depreciation.
- Your assets must be registered. See Register an asset.
Steps
- Open Fixed assets → Depreciation.
- Read the preview. It shows the journals it will post per branch and category, and the charge for each asset.
- The first time, pick the month to start from. Months before it are caught up in this run.
- Select Run followed by the month, for example Run 2026-09.
- Check that the run appears under Runs with its journal numbers.

Good to know
- A month can be run only once it has ended, and after the first run the months go in order, one at a time. Running a month again changes nothing.
- With Run each month by itself after the first run on in the settings, the next month is posted the day after it ends. The owner gets an alert if a month is waiting.
- If a run stops half way (for example, the Books period is closed), the page says so. Fix the cause and select Finish the run. Nothing is posted twice.
- Assets in use, in the store and under repair all depreciate. Disposed assets do not.
- An asset registered after the runs began is caught up in the next run.
- Straight line spreads cost minus the value left at the end over the life in months. Declining balance charges the yearly rate on what the asset is worth at the start of each month, never going below the value left.
- While a run is open, changes to an asset's money fields, disposals, transfers and revaluations wait.
- Asset register at the bottom shows cost, accumulated depreciation and net book value per asset, category and branch. Export it to Excel or CSV for your accountant.
- There are no tax depreciation tables.
