United Arab Emirates

UAE pack (optional)

This page applies only to organisations whose country is the United Arab Emirates. Kluvan works the same everywhere without it.

The UAE pack is for an organisation that chose United Arab Emirates as its country. It adds the Emirates' money, tax and payroll rules on top of the apps you use. Kluvan works without it; nothing else depends on it.

What the pack sets

  • Currency: the UAE dirham (AED, د.إ), with two decimals (fils).
  • VAT: when you create your accounts in Set up Books, Books adds the tax codes Standard rated (5 %), Zero rated, Exempt, Out of scope and Reverse charge (5 %). The tax number is labelled Tax registration number (TRN) (15 digits).
  • Emirates: Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah. You give each branch its emirate for the VAT return, and each business customer's emirate is read for e-invoices.
  • Tax return: the VAT 201 return prepared by box and emirate.
  • E-invoicing: through Flick, an e-invoicing service provider (early access).
  • Dates and time: the week starts on Monday, dates are shown as 14/10/2026, and the time zone is Dubai.
  • Phone numbers: UAE mobiles (05…, 10 digits) are recognised and turned into +971 numbers for WhatsApp links.
  • Languages: English is the default interface language; all supported interface languages are available.
  • HR defaults (from Federal Decree-Law 33 of 2021): Saturday and Sunday as the weekend, 30 days of annual leave (up to 15 carried over), sick leave of 15 days on full pay, 30 on half pay and 45 unpaid, maternity leave of 45 days on full pay and 15 on half pay, 5 days of parental and of bereavement leave, and 30 days of unpaid Hajj leave. A leaver's personal data can be removed after two years.
  • Payroll: the WPS salary file, the gratuity estimate, the final settlement, pensions for UAE and GCC nationals and an Emiratisation view.

Every default is yours to change on the HR settings page and in Books.

Supplier prices with VAT included

UAE suppliers often print prices with the 5 % VAT inside. When you record a supplier invoice in Procurement, choose VAT included in the prices: Kluvan takes the country's 5 % rate and works out the net cost and the VAT for you. Each supplier can also have its own order language, so a quote request sent by WhatsApp reaches them in, for example, Hindi or Urdu.
