Regional packs

Kluvan works in any country. A regional pack adds one country's rules on top: its currency, VAT rate and tax codes, tax return preparation, payroll rules, leave defaults, public holidays, and how phone numbers and dates are written. Two packs exist today, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates. Every other organisation uses the International pack.

The packs are optional. Invoicing, customers, projects, HR, stock and every other app work the same without one. A pack only adds the local rules that a business in that country needs.

Choose your country at sign-up

When you create your Kluvan account, the sign-up form asks for a Country: Egypt, United Arab Emirates or Another country (international). Your currency, taxes, e-invoicing and payroll rules follow this choice.

Change the country later

Only the owner can change the country.

  1. Open Settings and go to your organisation's details (the page with its name, Country and Time zone).
  2. Choose the new country under Country.
  3. Check the Time zone. Kluvan keeps one time zone for the whole organisation.
  4. Select Save.

The International pack

An organisation outside Egypt and the UAE, or one that chose no country, runs on the International pack:

  • amounts are in US dollars by default;
  • no VAT rules are assumed: Books creates a No tax code and a Standard rate code whose rate you set, plus zero-rated and exempt codes;
  • no e-invoicing and no tax return form: Books gives a tax summary by rate and month instead (not a filed return);
  • phone numbers are written in full international form;
  • HR starts with Saturday and Sunday as the weekend, 20 days of annual leave as a common default, and no public holidays.

Good to know

  • Choose the country before you issue documents or run payroll. Documents already issued keep the tax they were issued with.
  • Every legal figure in a pack (tax bands, insurance limits, leave days, holidays) is a starting point taken from published sources on a stated date. It is not legal or tax advice. Have your accountant check the figures and change them to match your business.
  • Moon-dependent holidays and Ramadan dates are estimates. Correct them under Public holidays on the HR settings page when the official dates are announced.
  • The pack pages: Egypt and United Arab Emirates.
