Create reseller tiers
A tier is a kind of reseller, such as Gold, Silver or Agent. It sets the prices the reseller buys at, its payment terms and credit limit, the commission it earns, and whether it may order for its own customers. Every reseller has one tier, so you change terms for a whole group in one place.
Before you start
- Resellers must be switched on (see switch on Resellers).
- You need the Resellers: manage resellers, orders and leads right.
Steps
- Open Resellers → Tiers and select Add a tier.
- Type a Name, for example "Gold".
- Choose the Price level the tier starts from: Retail price, Wholesale price or Sale price of each product.
- In Discount band (%), type the discount off that price level. Type 0 for none.
- In Commission (%), type the commission rate on collected revenue.
- In Payment terms (days), type the days the reseller has to pay (30 by default).
- In Credit limit (empty = none), type a limit, or leave it empty.
- Tick Resellers of this tier may order for their sub-customers if they may place orders for their own customers.
- Select Save. The tier appears in the list with the number of resellers on it.
- To change a tier later, select Edit on its row.

Good to know
- The reseller's price is the chosen price level less the discount band. If a product has no price at that level, its retail price is used.
- Orders for a sub-customer use the product's list price and are invoiced to that customer, not to the reseller.
- The credit limit flags, it does not block. An order that takes the reseller past its limit (open Books invoices plus orders waiting) is marked Over the credit limit for you to decide.
- Commission is on money collected, after tax, credit notes and refunds, not on what was invoiced. See issue a commission statement.
- A reseller can have its own commission rate instead of the tier's, and its own setting for ordering for sub-customers.
- Changing a tier counts for new orders. Orders already placed keep the prices they were placed at.
- Next: add a reseller and its sub-customers.
