Set targets and allocate stock to a reseller

Targets tell a reseller what you expect each month; allocations stop one reseller from taking all of a scarce product. Both are set per reseller and per month on the reseller's page.

Before you start

  • You need the Resellers: manage resellers, orders and leads right.
  • Targets are measured from Books invoices and payments, or from Trade orders: at least one of those apps must be in use.

Steps

Set a monthly target

  1. Open Resellers and select the reseller.
  2. Under Targets, find the month. The current month is marked This month.
  3. Type the amount on the month's row and select Set.
  4. Read the row: Target, Collected, Billed after tax and Progress as a bar and a percentage.

Allocate stock for the month

  1. On the reseller's page, go to Stock allocated for … (the current month) and select Allocate stock.
  2. In Find a product, type part of the name and select Search.
  3. Pick the Product and type the Quantity for the month. Leave it empty for no limit.
  4. Select Set. The table shows Allocated, Used and Left for each product.

Good to know

  • What a target counts. The money collected, after tax, for the sales dated in that month, as paid so far. A sale paid next month raises last month's figure when it is paid. Returns and refunds lower it.
  • The reseller sees its progress in its portal view, against the target you set.
  • No allocation means no limit. A line that would go over the month's allocation is refused when the reseller orders, and the price list in its portal view shows how many are left.
  • Accepting an order uses the allocation. You cannot set an allocation below what accepted orders have already used.
  • Allocations are per month: set them again for the next month.
  • Related: accept or reject reseller orders.
