Use your own domain for the site

Early access

This feature is in early access: it is built and tested, but not yet switched on for every organisation or not yet tried with the outside provider. Ask us on WhatsApp if you would like to try it.

You can attach your own domain, such as www.example.com, to your site. Kluvan never changes your DNS: you add the records at your domain provider, and Kluvan checks them.

Important. This part is in early access. Kluvan can already check your TXT record and mark the domain Verified, but showing your site on your own domain, with its secure certificate, needs a step on Kluvan's servers that is not in place yet. Until it is, your site stays on its Kluvan address and your domain does not show it.

Before you start

  • You need the right Publish the website and manage its domains.
  • You need access to your domain's DNS settings at your domain provider.

Steps

  1. Open Sites → Site settings and go to Custom domains.
  2. Type your Domain, for example www.example.com, and select Add. The message Domain added. Add the records below at your domain provider, then check. appears.
  3. Read the table of records: Type, Name and Value. The TXT record is named _kluvan-site. followed by your domain, and its value starts with kluvan-site=.
  4. At your domain provider, add each record exactly as shown.
  5. Back in Kluvan, select Check now. Records can take up to an hour to show.
  6. When the record is found, the badge changes from Waiting for the TXT record to Verified.

Good to know

  • Up to 3 domains per organisation.
  • A domain belongs to one organisation. A domain another organisation uses, one of Kluvan's own domains, or something that is not a domain name is refused.
  • Not found yet? The page says the TXT record was not found yet. Check the name and value for typing mistakes at your domain provider and select Check now again later.
  • Remove detaches a domain from your site. The site stays on its Kluvan address.
  • While in early access, share your site's Kluvan address (shown on the Website page) in your messages and profiles.
  • Related: Publish your site.
