Keep working without a connection

Basements, plant rooms and rural sites often have no signal. On an open job page you can keep working: each step you take is kept on the phone with its own time and sent to Kluvan when the connection comes back. Kluvan applies each step once, even if the phone sends it twice.

Before you start

• Open the job page while you still have a connection, before you go where there is no signal, and keep it open.
• If you added Kluvan to your home screen, open it from there.

Steps

1. Open the job in My jobs while you are online.
2. When the signal drops, carry on as usual: tap Arrived, Start work, tick checklist items, type readings, add materials, extras, notes and photos, and record the acceptance.
3. After each step, the line at the top says Saved on this phone — it will be sent when the connection is back. and then how many steps are waiting to sync.
4. When the connection comes back, the phone sends the waiting steps by itself. The line says Everything is sent. and the page reloads with the job as the office sees it.
5. If the line says Sent — some steps were refused (the job changed meanwhile). Check the job., read the job page: a step may have been refused because the office reassigned or cancelled the job, or a crew mate already did it.

Good to know

• What works offline: the taps, checklist ticks and readings, photos, materials, extras, notes, voiding a time entry and the customer's acceptance. What needs a connection: a follow-up and time typed by hand.
• Keep the page open. Steps are kept while the job page stays open, or while the installed app keeps it. Opening a job page for the first time with no connection, or after the phone reloaded the page, does not work.
• Each step keeps the time you took it, so your time entries stay right. A step dated more than 7 days back is refused.
• Materials and extras captured offline show Pending until synced: Kluvan checks the van stock, the price and the approval limit when they arrive.
• If something cannot be applied, Kluvan answers for each step: applied, already received, changed meanwhile, or refused. Nothing is applied twice.
• Do not clear the browser's site data while steps are waiting: they are stored in the browser on this phone.
