Collect subscriptions by pay link or saved card
This feature is in early access: it is built and tested, but not yet switched on for every organisation or not yet tried with the outside provider. Ask us on WhatsApp if you would like to try it.
If your organisation has its own Paymob account, subscribers can pay each invoice online from a link, and can save a card so later invoices are charged without them doing anything. This is early access: it has been tested against Paymob's test environment only.
Before you start
- Your organisation needs its own Paymob account. The owner connects it in Settings → Payments (the Paymob card).
- For saved cards, Paymob must also give your account a recurring (card-on-file) integration. Its ID goes in the optional field for it on the same Paymob form. Without it, subscribers pay by link only.
- You need the Bill subscriptions, take their payments and send reminders right.
Steps
Send a pay link for one invoice
- Open Subscriptions and select the subscription's number.
- On an invoice with the status Owed, select Pay link.
- A box shows the link and a ready message. Select Open WhatsApp to send it, or copy the link.
- When the customer pays on Paymob's page and Paymob confirms it, the invoice is marked paid by itself.
Use a saved card
- On the subscription, open Details.
- In How they pay, choose Saved card, charged by itself, and select Save.
- The next invoice is sent as a pay link. When the customer pays it, Paymob offers to save the card.
- Once a card is saved, the subscription shows Saved card with the card's last digits, and later invoices are charged on their day.
Good to know
- Paid only on Paymob's word. An invoice is marked paid only after Paymob confirms the payment, and it is booked once, however many confirmations arrive. With Books it is a Books receipt; without Books it settles the customer's account.
- The reminder schedule sends the link. When the first step of your schedule is Pay link, the link goes to the customer by itself; see follow up unpaid invoices.
- A declined card leaves the invoice owed. The card is tried again on the retry days set in Settings → Subscriptions (Saved card retries (days), for example 1, 3, 5), and the reminders carry on.
- Paid another way. If an invoice was paid in cash and the link is paid later, the extra money stays on the customer's account.
- Card details never reach Kluvan. The customer types them on Paymob's page.
- Early access. This has not run against real Paymob payments yet. Test it with Paymob's test keys before you rely on it.
