Let customers sign up and manage their plan

Customers can subscribe themselves from a link or a QR code you print, and each subscriber gets a private page where they see their plan and bills and, if you allow it, pause or cancel.

Before you start

  • Your organisation needs a public address. Set it in Settings → Online (the plans page shows Set it up when it is missing).
  • A manager opens the page in Settings → Subscriptions: tick The sign-up page is open, and tick Cash or card at delivery there if customers may sign up and pay you directly. Then select Save.
  • Only plans with Sold and On the sign-up page ticked are shown.

Steps

Share the sign-up page

  1. Open Subscriptions → Subscription plans.
  2. Find Sign-up link and QR.
  3. Copy the link to send it, or select Print to print the QR code for your counter, door or flyer.

What the customer does

  1. They open the link or scan the QR code. The page is titled Subscribe.
  2. They see each plan with what it includes, its price, a setup fee if any, and VAT.
  3. They pick a plan and type their name and phone.
  4. Under How will you pay?, they choose to pay you directly, or Pay online now when your organisation takes online payments (early access).
  5. They select Subscribe. The page confirms "You are subscribed to …", shows their subscription number, and links to My subscriptions.

The customer's own page

  1. On a subscription page, find The customer's own page and its link. Send it to the customer.
  2. On their page (Your subscriptions) the customer sees each plan, its status, the Next bill, and what is owed.
  3. When the plan allows it, they can select Pause, Resume or Cancel at the period's end.

Good to know

  • The customer is matched by phone. If the phone belongs to an existing customer, the subscription goes on that customer; otherwise a new customer is created. Pressing Subscribe twice finds the same subscription.
  • A customer who pays you directly is billed on their account; you record the payment as for any subscription invoice (see bill and record payments).
  • No welcome message is sent when a customer signs up. Contact new subscribers yourself if you want to greet them.
  • The page is protected against repeated sign-ups from one address and against automated forms.
  • Pause and cancel on the customer's page follow the plan's The customer may pause and The customer may cancel options, and the Longest pause (days) setting. A cancellation from the customer's page always takes effect at the period's end.
  • The same link as the statement. The customer's page uses the same private code as their Collections statement, and the statement lists their subscriptions too. It shows no phone number, e-mail address or other customer's data.
