Check and correct public holidays

HR starts with your country's public holidays for 2026 and 2027. Holidays are left out when time off is counted, marked on the roster and the calendars, and paid at the holiday rate when someone works on one.

Before you start

  • You need access to HR → HR settings.

Steps

  1. Open HR → HR settings → Public holidays.
  2. Read the list. Dates marked in the Moon-dependent (~) column follow the moon and are estimates.
  3. When the official date is announced, change the Date in that row.
  4. To add a holiday, fill in the empty last row: the Date, the Name and, if you like, the Name in Arabic.
  5. To take a holiday off the list, tick Remove in its row.
  6. Select Save.
  7. Open HR → Leave → Year view to check the year: each public holiday is marked ★, with ~ when it depends on the moon.

Good to know

  • The Islamic holidays (Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha, the Islamic new year, the Prophet's birthday) are approximate. Check every date against the official announcement each year and correct it here.
  • The lists for Egypt and the UAE cover 2026 and 2027. Add the dates of later years yourself when they are announced.
  • Your weekend days are set separately, under Leave types. See Set up time off and decide requests.
  • Holidays also decide whether a day counts as absence and whether work on that day is paid at the holiday overtime rate. See Set work rules and approve timesheets.
  • Ramadan dates for the shorter working day are set on the attendance rules page, not here.
