Set work rules and approve timesheets
The work rules turn punches into hours: lateness, absence, overtime, night and rest-day work. Each period you check the timesheets, correct what is wrong, and approve. Approving locks the period, and payroll pays the overtime you approved.
Before you start
- You need See HR files to read and Manage HR (files, documents, leave) to change rules and approve. Reopening a locked period needs Salaries and payroll.
Set the rules
- Open HR → Timesheets and select Attendance and overtime rules.
- Check the figures. Each one is labelled as coming from published law or as your own choice.
- Adjust what you need: Grace minutes before lateness counts, the Lateness bands, Overtime after (minutes a day), the Night window, the Rates for night, rest-day and public holiday work, the Ramadan dates and how much shorter the day is.
- Select Save. Back to the country's defaults undoes your changes.
Approve a period
- Open HR → Timesheets, pick the Branch, the From and To dates, and select Show.
- Read each person's totals and Exceptions: late, left early, absent without leave, a missing clock-out.
- To correct a punch, open Staff → Timesheet for that person, select Correct on the day, change the time or remove the punch, type a Reason and save. Use Add a punch for a forgotten one.
- Back on HR → Timesheets, check Overtime approved (minutes) for each person.
- Select Approve and lock.

Good to know
- The country figures are published defaults, not legal advice. Confirm them with your adviser.
- Egypt's night window is not confirmed: 19:00 to 07:00 is used until it is checked. Change it if your adviser says otherwise.
- Ramadan dates are estimates because the moon decides. Correct them when they are announced.
- A day's expected hours come from the roster's shift, or else the person's weekly schedule. Work on a rest day or a public holiday counts as overtime from the first minute.
- The daily overtime cap only flags extra time; it never cuts it.
- Rounding never hides time: the raw minutes always show beside the rounded ones.
- A correction never deletes anything. The original punch stays, marked corrected, with your reason and name.
- After a period is locked, correcting a punch in it needs Salaries and payroll and a reason. Reopen (payroll right) unlocks the whole period, with a reason.
- A period can be up to 62 days and must have ended.
- Approved time off and public holidays are never counted as absence.
- Next: Run payroll for a period.
