Sell paid tickets through your payment provider

Early access

This feature is in early access: it is built and tested, but not yet switched on for every organisation or not yet tried with the outside provider. Ask us on WhatsApp if you would like to try it.

Paid tickets are paid to your organisation's own online payment provider, through a pay link. Kluvan never holds the money, and a paid ticket exists only once the provider confirms the payment.

Important. Paid tickets are in early access. The payment provider supported today is Paymob, connected with your organisation's own Paymob account. This path has been tested against Paymob's test service, not yet against live payments. Free events work without any provider.

Before you start

  • You need the right Run events (edit, publish, attendees, waitlist, guests).
  • The owner connects your Paymob account in Settings → Payments, on the Paymob card (Connect Paymob). Until then, the event page says Paid tickets need an online payment provider. with a Connect one link, and the public page says Paid tickets cannot be bought online right now.
  • The provider must charge in your organisation's currency.

Steps

  1. Connect your payment provider in Settings → Payments, on the Paymob card (see Settings → Payments).
  2. Open the event and give a ticket type a Price above 0. Tick VAT applies if it carries VAT. Select Save.
  3. Publish the event and share its page. See Share the registration page.
  4. When someone registers for paid tickets, their seats are held and the page shows Your seats are held until a time, with Pay now.
  5. They pay on the provider's page. When the provider confirms, the order becomes Confirmed and the tickets go out by e-mail.
  6. Follow the orders on the event's Attendees list: Waiting (with held until), Confirmed, Expired and Paid too late.

Good to know

  • Only the provider's word counts. Coming back from the payment page proves nothing; the order is confirmed when the provider's signed message arrives, or when Kluvan reads the payment from the provider itself. A repeated message changes nothing.
  • Holds. The seats wait for the minutes set in Events settings (30 by default). If no payment comes, the order becomes Expired and the seats are free again.
  • Late payments. A payment that arrives after the hold ran out takes the seats again if they are still free. If not, the order is marked Paid too late, Today asks finance to refund it, and nobody gets tickets. See Refund a paid order.
  • Books. With Books on, each paid order gets an issued invoice (a line per ticket type, VAT by type) and the card payment recorded against it. If Books refuses, the order stands and is marked Books did not record it; Today lists it.
  • The pay page names the order as tickets with the event's number.
  • Other providers are not available for tickets.
