Undo an import

Imported the wrong file, or the columns went to the wrong place? You can undo any import for 30 days after it ran.

Before you start

  • You need to be the owner or a manager.
  • Undo takes back the whole import, not single rows. To fix a few rows, correct them by hand or bring a corrected file with Update everything the file fills in.

Steps

  1. Open Settings → Bring your data.
  2. Under Your imports, find the import. Its state says done and can be undone until a date.
  3. Press Open.
  4. Press Undo this import.
  5. Read the question and confirm.
  6. Read the result: "Undone: … taken back, … kept because they were used since".
  7. Look at Kept (used since the import) to see which records stayed and why.

What undo does

  • A product, customer or supplier the import added is removed.
  • A record the import changed goes back to what it was.
  • Stock the import set goes back, while the quantity is still the one the import set.
  • An opening balance the import posted leaves the customer's or supplier's account.

What undo keeps

Records you used after the import stay, so your own work is never lost. Each is listed with its reason:

  • a product that was sold or moved since, or had variants added;
  • a product whose stock changed since (a sale, a delivery or a count) keeps its stock;
  • a record you edited after the import;
  • a customer or supplier whose account was used since (a sale, a payment or a delivery) keeps the account and its opening line.

Good to know

  • After 30 days the import stays in the list, but Undo this import is no longer offered.
  • An import that stopped half-way (state stopped) can be undone too: what went in so far is taken back. You can also bring the same file again: Kluvan checks each row afresh and finishes the rest, without adding anything twice.
  • The undo is recorded in the activity log with who did it and when.
  • To start again after an undo, press Bring another file. See how import works.
