Update products from a file
Changing many prices at once? Export your products, edit the file in Excel and bring it back. Products are matched to the ones you have, and an empty cell keeps the current value.
Before you start
- You need the right to manage products.
- For a first move from another program, with opening balances, findings and undo, use Bring your data instead.
Steps
- Open Products and press Import & export.
- Press Export every product (CSV). The file has 21 columns, in UTF-8, and opens in Excel.
- In Excel, change what you need: prices, costs, names, categories. Leave a cell empty to keep its current value.
- Save the file as CSV or Excel (.xlsx). Keep the first line: it names the columns.
- Back on Import & export, choose the file under File.
- Press Import.
- Read the result: "Done: … added, … updated, … skipped".
- If there are Errors, read them, fix those rows and bring the file again.

Good to know
- Matching: each row is matched by the product's id, then its barcode, then its name. A row that matches nothing is added as a new product.
- Files: CSV, TSV, TXT or .xlsx, up to 6 MB. Split a bigger file into several.
- The first line can be in English or Arabic; any separator and the usual encodings are read.
- The result lists the columns it recognised. A column it did not recognise is ignored.
- Up to 30 errors are shown at a time.
- No undo here: this quick update writes the changes straight away. If you want to check every row first and be able to undo for 30 days, use Settings → Bring your data with Update prices and stock only or Update everything the file fills in. Managers see a link to it at the top of this page.
- Keep barcodes as text in Excel (format the column as Text) so their digits are not lost.
