What your customers see in the portal
Knowing what your customers see helps you answer their questions. The portal is a simple page in your organisation's name and colour, made for phones, in the person's own language.
Before you start
- The company has access and the person has been added (see add portal people and choose their roles).
Steps
How a person signs in
- They open the portal's address, or the button in their invitation.
- On Sign in, they type their E-mail and select Send me a code.
- They type the code in The 6-digit code and select Sign in. If no code came, Send a new code sends another.
- They can change the language from the menu at the top, and sign out from their name with Log out.

What the home page shows
- Hello with the person's name and their company.
- Needs your action: what is waiting for this person's roles, for example Invoice to pay, Estimate to approve, Proposal to accept, with the due date and the amount.
- A tile per section with its count, and What you sent: their requests still waiting for your team.
What each customer section shows
- Invoices: each issued document with its date, due date, balance and state. Opening one shows Total, Paid, Still to pay, the lines, Download / print, and Messages about that invoice. A payer also sees Pay online (early access), Dispute this invoice and Promise a payment date.
- Statement: You owe, Overdue and the Open invoices, per currency.
- Support and Service: tickets and service requests (see handle tickets and service requests).
- Proposals and agreements: your proposals, which an approver opens to accept, and the agreements in force.
- Projects: each project with its state and end date, and Messages about it.
- Orders, Bookings, Subscriptions and Rentals: a summary of each record with its state and dates, such as the next bill.
- Documents: the documents you shared with the company, each with Open.

The profile
- From their name, they open My profile.
- They can change their Name and Language and select Save. Your roles lists what they may do.
- If their e-mail belongs to more than one of your companies, Your other companies lets them Switch.
Good to know
- Sign-in codes work for 10 minutes, once, with five tries. A person stays signed in for seven days on that device.
- Lists page by 25. More loads the next page; nothing is cut off.
- Drafts stay private. Only issued Books documents are shown. Costs, internal notes and staff-only details never are.
- Summaries are read-only. Bookings, rentals, subscriptions, projects and orders cannot be changed from these pages.
- Shared documents are those of the Documents app linked to this company, published, of normal confidentiality and tagged
portal. - Separate from your team's sign-in. A portal session cannot open staff pages, the developer API or the assistant connection. Signing out of the portal does not sign out a staff member in the same browser.
