Plan and verify corrective actions
A corrective action fixes what went wrong; a preventive action stops it happening again. Each action has an owner and a due day, and it closes only when another person has checked the work: the owner, and whoever marked it done, can never verify it.
Before you start
- To plan actions you need Manage templates, non-conformances and actions, or to own the non-conformance.
- To verify you need Verify and close corrective actions (not one's own).
Steps to plan an action
- Open the non-conformance and go to Plan an action.
- Pick the Kind: Corrective or Preventive.
- Set the due day, pick the Owner, and if you want a named person to check it, the Verifier (or keep Anyone with the verify right).
- Type the Title, for example "Ask the supplier for a corrected batch", and What will be done.
- Select Plan an action. The owner is told.
Steps to finish and verify
- The owner opens the action (from Today or Quality → Corrective actions → My actions), adds a Note and selects Mark done. It waits for verification.
- The verifier opens Quality → Corrective actions → To verify, checks the work, and selects Verify and close with an optional note.
- If something is still missing, the verifier writes What is still missing? and selects Send back. The action returns to its owner as To do, with the note.

Good to know
- Two people, always. Kluvan refuses a verification by the action's owner or by whoever marked it done, even for a manager: You cannot verify an action you own or marked done: a second person must.
- A named verifier cannot be the owner, and only they can verify that action.
- A quality manager can mark an action done on the owner's behalf; the two-person rule still applies.
- The non-conformance closes by itself when its last live action is verified.
- Late actions are sent to their owner and the managers once a day, and Workflows' rules can act on them. They also show in the Owner workspace.
- Cancel the action removes an action that is no longer needed; the history keeps it.
- The board shows To do, Done, to verify and Verified and closed. Each card opens its non-conformance.
